OK here is my funny story!

Ok so now I will fess up LOL! Hubby and I had seen this on the reader board at the hotel, and were wondering what it was about, but we got to doing stuff and forgot about it for awhile. The next day is when I spotted the "Mootstock 2010" on the beach, from our hotel window.
We were laughing and joking about what it might mean, when something clicked in my little head LOL. How many of you have read "Lord of the Rings"? I have read it probably 5 times LOL. I blurted out "I know what it means!" Hubby says "oh yeah" "yep" I say. " It means an Ent moot, a meeting of the tree people from  "Lord of the Rings" LOL as he is calling me a nerd, he looks it up on the internet and what do you know I am right! LOL LOL Am I the biggest nerd or what!
I love "Lord of the Rings" and "Star trek" and "Star Wars" LOL LOL I still cant believe that I got it!
Below in purple is what Hubby found on the internet....Which answers all the questions LOL It is off of the LOTROs website. (Lord of the Rings, Tolkien website, an online gaming community)

Oh and I believe the drawing in the sand in the upper left is the "Eye of Mordor" LOL LOL I am still laughing.

"In my absence, I am counting on my friends to shoulder the burden of my threadly duties here.

Tis a far, far better thing you do than you've ever done before. Or something like that.

I'm going to the Oregon coast, where I will be joined by a bunch of folks from my Tolkien email group. Every so often, us Tolkien geeks who mostly hobnob online get together in person. We read from LOTR and discuss it, listen to the ocean, hike down the Hobbit Trail (yes, there really is one called just that in Oregon!) descend upon the used bookstores, watch the LOTR movies (including the old Bakshi and Rankin-Bass chestnuts), listen to the BBC LOTR tapes, play LOTR boardgames and, like true hobbits, have six meals a day when we can get them--amongst much other fun stuff for the next five days.

In the past, we've had people come to Mootstock (and we thought up that name way, WAY before anyone thought of W00tstock) from as far as Mississippi, Michigan and Ohio. Nobody is coming quite that far this time, though there will be travelers from Texas, Colorado and Washington to join us Oregonians for the moot (short for entmoot).

This is the first time we've met in person since the advent of LOTRO, and we will be taking advantage of the game to fellow with two mooters--one in Michigan and one in New Mexico--who play LOTRO but are unable to join us in person. This way, they can join us "in person" at Mootstock via the game. I'm looking forward to it! It should be lots of fun. It always is."

I hope they dont mind me giving them a small plug here on my little old blog LOL. Now enjoy your laugh at my nerdyness LOL LOL

  2. Nerd here too - I'm a big LOTR fan (book and movie - no book firster here), and I've seen the whole trilogy a few (well a lot) more times than you. And my daughters and I even went to Trilogy Tuesday! See, you just thought you were a nerd! But I didn't get the Moonstock reference.

  5. Another nerd to join your ranks! I am a huge LOTR fan. (Also Star Wars and Star Trek -- we're actually watching the first season of ST:TNG right now.) I probably wouldn't have gotten the moot reference, but I definitely would have recognized the eye. ^_^ Good catch!

  7. Oooh! We are LOTR fans here, too. Read all the books and have the videos to go with. And we've watched it more times than I can count. Can't get enough!

So I guess we're nerds, too. lol!

Good for you catching the meaning. Cool!
That would make a great place for a Letterbox, I think!
