So we did take a short road trip/hunting drive, and fresh mushrooms!....

Well Hubby and I finally got to get away for the day. We went for a drive up in the mtns. and had a good day. This was Max's perch for most of the day, he loved it! On the console between us. Yes in his little fleece coat, LOL, when you only weigh 8lbs or so and your hair is only an 1/8th of an inch long, you need a coat! LOL

We did find some snow! We had to go up to 4000feet in elevation to find it though! (I know this because thats what the little etrex GPS we have said).

Back down at 2000foot or lower the leaves are still changing, not to much red this year, but a lot of golden tree stars!

The maple leaves are always such a contrast to the deep fir forest.

And so pretty.

We didnt come home empty handed! We even seen a Deer and her two half grown fawns, healthy and fat all of them.

We found a few Chantrel mushrooms! Even had some with dinner last night.
Found a couple really big ones too! I held my hand out for comparison. Chantrels are pretty easy to find and pick, I have never seen any false Chantrels, but true one the gills always to down the stem part way, the false ones the gills stop at the top of the stem. They can range from small 50 cent size to a small dinner plate size!

And this little heart shaped one! LOL LOL. Love Chantrels! especially fresh ones!
We have been picking them for a long time, Hubby's Dad taught us. We still have some canned ones, from the last year or so.

Not much to post, a road trip coming up!

Well not a whole lot going on. Nicolete is back with her raiser now, who is home from the hospital.
This is Dublins first phase report! He is on the roster, wow I cant believe time has gone by so fast.
We will get a report every Thursday.

Dublin   43W8    LAB       M          0

(his name, whelp #, breed, sex, and phase he is in)

Hubby and I are leaving early early in the morning, like 6AM, LOL which is early for me!
We are driving to my cousins house to visit with them, dont know if we are going to make it
a day trip or if we will stay over yet.  We are taking Max on his first trip! We will see how that
goes!
I really havnt dont my horses justice on my blog this year at all, just a lot of changes around here, what with
Meghan moving out and out of High School, I seem to spend all my energy just taking care of them. Cleaning stalls
feeding, watering, doing their feet when needed, just takes it all out of me and I am to tired to ride. I hope to change that in the coming year! Why have them if I cant ride them too! I really need to downsize, but I have two old mares, one who is lame and a 10 year old, whom I would love to keep and ride! In this horse economy, in this economy you cant give them away much less sell them, unless they are expensive show horses and young and been there done that, yeah right, huh, a bit of a conundrum there! Anyway, I am plugging away and taking good care of them, the spoiled brats. We have had our first couple of freezes now so it is time to worm them.
So I dug some old pics out of the hard drive to share, I really need a riding fix!

Some photo program shots I have played with. Boy I can not believe what a different color she is now! She was a dark dun with some snowflakes when I brought her home!

Gaaaahhhhh, all this will turn into mud over this weekend, the rain is back! Here comes winter.

No matter how clean I try to keep Emma's stall she will lie in her poop, and have a big Green stain on her hip!

One of the old mares, Mickey, bought her when she was 2, she will be 22 in February.

Emma, she is such a goof still. She darkens a little bit in the winter, but not much anymore. She has gotten a little whiter every year. She will be 11, Jan. 10th.

Megs on Easy, the WASET days were sure fun, and the 13 years of 4-H! This is the day she got her new saddle and had to try it out right away! This old mare will be 26, in March, or at the first of the year, as the thoroughbreds do LOL(she is a reg. QH by the way.)
Well a little reminiscing, and I hope to have a lot of pictures from our trip this weekend!

Dublins new digs....

Dublin, the night before he left. All of our dogs have always found the warm sunny spot in the living room, to lie down in.

Dublins new apartment. LOL #14 I didnt notice that when I dropped him off.

I had the caretaker take our picture.
We got there and I walked into the kitchen area with him and there was no one around! LOL I had to pee, so I went in the bathroom with Dub, when we came out there was this nice older lady there. The lady went and got a trainer for us. When she got there we weighed him and Dublin weighed 54.5 lbs, he is a great size for traveling with. He is quite a bit smaller than Luxor, who was 65lbs when we took him back. We took his collar off and showed him the bed and that was that. Dublin is moved into school!
Now to anxiously await how he goes through the levels of training, 1-10, (Oops, I forgot the new training schedule is only 8 phases instead of 10, they have changed it!) it usually takes about two months. His first week there they will be doing all his medical evals, i.e. xrays of his hips and elbows, checking out his eyes, etc. After that he will get a buddy in the kennel with him. We usually get the reports on Thursdays, our club leader posts it for us on our club website Guiding Eyes of Clark Co. I will also post his progress for everyone here, when I get the news! After school, he then gets matched up with a blind person, if he makes it, that is! Stay tuned!

Dublin goes to College....

Today I take Dublin back to Guide Dogs for the Blind. He has been a great puppy, and is more than ready for College! I am hoping I can take him to him dorm room and tour around with him a little before I leave him in the care of his instructors!

Chiweenie love....

Warning, shameless Chiweenie pictures!
LOL LOL

This little guy is pretty intense, playful and stills growls at the Hubby when he comes in the door!

To catch him holding still, when he is not attached to my side is rare!

He is learning to kill the squeaker in his toys.

The regal pose, he is just contemplating what he can get into next!

We are getting lower, if that is possible for a part Dachshund, LOL.
And lower....

And still for about 2 minutes! He is a very high energy little dog! Still having the ocasional "accident" in the house, usually in the  Xpen when I have to leave for awhile.
I think I have fallen in love with this new guy, he makes me laugh! and he is kinda cute! Little Maxie.

Dogs and puppies

I know this first one is a little blurry, but they were to funny not to share!
Dead Chiweenie LOL LOL Max sleeps in the funniest positions, like this or curled up at my side with his nose in my armpit, LOL it help when you are all of maybe 8lbs!

Goofy little mutt!

This is Nicolete, she is another Guide Dog puppy, that we are puppysitting. Her raiser had to have surgery so we volunteered to help take care of her while she was in the hospital.

She is a little cutie, she will be 3 mo. old on the 14th, its funny she is a year and a day younger than Dublin.

Dublin is watching her, "really" he sometimes doesnt know what to think. Dublin does play well with her.
Alas, Mr. Dublins recall date has been changed back to Oct. 16th! I am going to miss this guy, he is a great dog. But he is ready to go on to college! More than ready! He will make someone a really good Seeing Eye dog!

Ah sleep! Having three of them, two under a year has been interesting! Took Nicolete up to the Vet for her shots this morning and I took her and Dublin to our club puppy meeting Thurs. night.

She sleeps upside down too! LOL

Nicolete and Max playing, Max actually is pretty gentle with her, he is surprising me. He has his moments LOL When I first brought her home he was a little aggressive, but he came around pretty quick.
That is my feet, still in my PJs this morning LOL Max is biteing Nickies leg, she is a really good girl. She has not had an accident in the house at all! I just have to really watch her mouthing and eating anything she can get her mouth on! LOL (the chew up in the corner is Max's, not the GDB puppies!! They have their own approved toys, and all of them are supervised with their toys!)

Meghan moves out....

Well our youngest made the descision to move out on her own. So now we are empty nesters! Except for the 4 legged kids!
She was all excited to have her first place, it is a nice little apartment, a one bed unit, it will be a good start for them.
And this is the "Boy" LOL this is Marques. None of my inside pics turned out, they were all blurry?

Carrying the loveseat up.

Then we followed them over to Marques' storage unit and loaded up the bed and other stuff.
Nice face Meg! LOL you should know better! LOL LOL

Almost loaded up.

Dad had to help carry the king size mattress up the stairs.

And they made it! The start of life on her own!.
