I really need to do this with Emmas stall gate in and out of the barn, as it has become a good 16-18 inch drop out of the barn! Gahhhh. This would work really well. Hmmm now can I find some high school kid that wants to work cheap LOL LOL LOL

Ha Ha Ha Meri!!! I have done it the other way and the gravel spreads out. Evemtually you have to add more and more.

I'm thinking I'm going to use landscape timbers for my edges to put boxes at my gates, which is where I get worst mud. I'm thinking if I do it right, the horses will go over the pole but won't go back and forth in front of it. It should be good. I'm thinking that boxed area needs to be big enough the horse fits inside it to when I turn them loose or catch them.

A barn I worked at many years ago had boxed areas with hog fuel. They worked great (no mud outside the boxO but the hog fuel eventually broke down and created more mud. Their box was probably the size of the swing area for the gate.Rising Rainbowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04239592070775412669noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8409165825821448404.post-73441378893515082011-01-29T19:49:28.857-08:002011-01-29T19:49:28.857-08:00Rising Rainbow, yeah gravel would be awesome! agai...Rising Rainbow, yeah gravel would be awesome! again its affording enough to make a difference, and if you box it in, what about the edges, do they still get muddy?

Thanks Rudys raiser! Sure can't wait for warmer dryer weather.

Here the conservation district recommends not using the bark or hog fuel because it eventually breaks down to make more mud. They recommend gravel instead. I think that works good but I think it needs to be boxed in so it doesn't migrate and it needs to be "lifted" to keep it on top too. One place I worked used to go over the gravel once a month with the drag to keep it on top and allow any dirt to fall through. That seemed to work well.

Congratulations on the weight loss. I understand how that brain stuff can affect everything else. It took Lindsay a long time to get back to "normal." Whatever that was. You're doing great!Rising Rainbowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04239592070775412669noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8409165825821448404.post-49173251670178996632011-01-27T14:31:21.505-08:002011-01-27T14:31:21.505-08:00Yeah Lisa Emma has that Apple butt, LOL LOL
I know...Yeah Lisa Emma has that Apple butt, LOL LOL
I know what you mean about feeling the weight, I feel so much better now that I have lost some. For you and for FV, I believe the South Beach diet works!!! I went on it a few years ago and lost 30lbs in 3 months, I put some back on after I went off of it. Then I started to get sick from my tumor so I didnt stick with it. My daughter has my start up booklet that I used, it has wonderful lists of foods you can and cant have and stage one and stage two, its what really helped me be successful with it. I can get it if you are interested? Just let me know!!Reddunappyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02789213785183576404noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8409165825821448404.post-12341799999744121812011-01-27T10:01:55.104-08:002011-01-27T10:01:55.104-08:00Emma's got a beautiful big booty!

I'm currently close to your heaviest weight (gah!), but everyone seems to be surprised when they realize that bit of info. I suppose being almost 6 feet tall helps to hide it well?
I sure feel it, though. Especially around my hips, which seems to be where most of the weight sits. But with hip displasia, the weight causes a lot of problems and pain. bah!

~LisaLaughing Orca Ranchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03562627840013868980noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8409165825821448404.post-22788381275392085822011-01-26T23:14:37.363-08:002011-01-26T23:14:37.363-08:00Yes Paint girl, the mud is terrible!!!

WSU mud management class that I took recommends putting a pile or more of bark chunks in you sacrifice areas, so they can get up out of the mud. I havnt priced bark nuggets or chunks lately, so I am sure its expensive!Reddunappyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02789213785183576404noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8409165825821448404.post-77111833306434592262011-01-26T22:23:06.368-08:002011-01-26T22:23:06.368-08:00This mud is terrible, isn't it?
